Karla Canavan is a Licensed Massage Therapist in Butte. She studied Graphic Design at Montana State University for two years, spent one year at Montana Tech in Health Sciences and completed her Massage Therapy training at the Asten Center of Natural Therapeutics in 1998.

Karla volunteered for six years on the Board of Directors of the Butte Skate Park, serving as president for two years. She was instrumental in the completion of that amenity, while working full time and, together with her husband, raising two children (her greatest achievement!).

Karla was inspired to join the SPIRIT Center Board of Directors when her neighbors rejected the efforts of the group to purchase a home in her area for the sober living facility. Having lost a brother to addiction, Karla is well aware of the misconceptions surrounding these issues. There is an obvious need for community support of this population versus scorn and distrust. It is her sincere wish to help educate the public and dispel some of the myths about substance abuse. She is willing to work hard to see this much needed facility come to fruition.
