Jim Callahan serves as the Assistant Manager of the Butte Spirit House. Jim also works full time at The Southwest Montana Community Health Center as a Certified Behavioral Peer Support Specialist (CBHPSS). He has a BA in American Studies from Fairfield University and an MBA from Lake Forest Graduate School of Management. Jim has completed coursework through the Montana Peer Network for the CBHPSS License.
For over 32 years Jim worked in the insurance industry focusing on risk management for high net worth individuals and their families. During that time he also worked as an expatriate in Canada for nine years with The Chubb Group of Insurance companies.
As a community citizen Jim served seven years on the Lake Bluff Zoning Board of Appeals in Illinois, a member of the counsel for our local parish and in recovery started a project to work with protective service agencies to furnish the apartments for women who were escaping battered and abusive relationships.
With life events sparking addiction at 55 years old, Jim entered a 30 day inpatient rehabilitation program within a year of his first use. Following his rehabilitation, Jim saw a desperate need to help improve sober living in the recovery industry as it can be a major influencer for a full recovery. The philosophy of the Butte SPIRIT House resonated with his vision of what a good sober living community should look like, and he was inspired to move from Wisconsin to Butte to help.
