After attaining a B.S. in Biology from Butler University in 2012, Demetrius Fassas moved to Montana where he spent 6 years working in the non-profit sector, building momentum in the shift towards locally resilient food systems and promoting healthy eating habits in K-12 schools, pre-schools and healthcare institutions. Funding, building, and implementing programs that serve health is what lights Mr. Fassas’ fire. Now working in real estate development, he serves on the Board of the Butte SPIRIT Center not just to stay connected to non-profit work, but because Mr. Fassas’ personal recovery from addiction was greatly benefitted by a 3 month stay in sober living in 2015. Demetrius sees the need for this service in our community, and knows the potential it has to benefit those that have the courage to change. Since the Butte SPIRIT Home became operational, Demetrius has been licensed as a Certified Behavioral Health Peer Support Specialist and is serving as the Interim Executive Director of the organization and is thrilled to bring his experience with non-profit program management to the Butte SPIRIT Center.
