Peggy Probasco
Board of Directors

Peggy Probasco is an Attorney Emeritus in Butte, America, having retired from active practice in 2018. She received her undergraduate degree in Philosophy from the University of Montana in 1980 and her Juris Doctorate in 1983. After 8 years in corporate and private practice, in 1991 she began her work as a Special Assistant Attorney General in the State of Montana Department of Health and Human Services, Child Support Enforcement Division (now the Child Support Services Division). During her time with the state Peggy was instrumental in developing the Child Support Guidelines and presented the program to judges and attorneys throughout the state. She served on the Board of Trustees for the State Bar of Montana and on the Lawyers Helping Lawyers Committee, which exists to help attorneys struggling with addiction, as well as depression and mental illness. She served as President of the State Bar of Montana, 2006-2007. She was honored to co-chair a small delegation of attorneys from Montana to Cuba in 2014 for a cultural exchange.

Peggy is the youngest of six children and raised in a household that treasured curiosity and travel. Nonetheless, her father was an alcoholic. In unheard of support at that time, the Union Pacific Railroad, her father’s employer, paid for her father to get treatment in the 1970s. Peggy was also married to an alcoholic during her second marriage, and happy to report that her ex is now sober and living a full life in in Washington state. The alcoholics she has known are some of the brightest, most sensitive people she has ever known and she celebrates the sobriety of alcoholics.

Peggy currently serves on the Board of Montana Legal Services Association (an organization dedicated to the free civil representation of the underprivileged), The Board of the Butte Furniture Bank, and The Board of Mile High Federal Credit Union. She loves to cook and coordinates 2 cooking clubs every September through May and she loves to travel.
